CSL所長 北野 宏明 他による論文 "The Systems Biology Graphical Notation" が Nature Biotechnology (電子版）に掲載されました。生物の体内で働く遺伝子やたんぱく質間の相互作用を正確に記述するグラフィック記法の標準、Systems Biology Graphical Notation (SBGN)が提示されています。これは、電子工学での回路図の書き方に対応する取り決めです。 標準化された回路図がなくてはエレクトロニクス産業の隆盛はありえませんでした。 今回の標準化は、同様なインパクトを生命科学・バイオテクノロジーの分野にもたらして行くと 期待されています。
A new article by CSL Director, Hiroaki Kitano and his collaborators, titled "The Systems Biology Graphical Notation" has been published online on Nature Biotechnology. The Systems Biology Graphical Notation (SBGN), a visual language that will enable scientists to represent networks of biochemical interactions in a standard, unambiguous way is presented in the article. SBGN corresponds to circuit diagram design in electronics engineering. The electronics industry would not have prospered without a standardized circuit diagram design. We hope that the standardization this time would foster similar impact in the field of life science and biotechnology.
