主人と客人の行動、日差しといった環境に対応して透明度を変える、インタラクティブな雪見障子を開発しています。透明度を電気的に制御できる液晶調光フィルムを複数枚障子に埋め込み、IoTデバイス化することで、カメラから読み取った人の行動、扉の開閉状態に合わせた透明度のコントロールを実現しています。例えば客人を迎え入れる際は障子を透明にして室内が見えないことによる威圧感を軽減し、入室後は静かに不透明化することで俗世からの隔離を感じさせ空間への没入感を高めるといった機能を実装しています。開放感と閉鎖感という本来相反する性質を両立させ、人と静かに調和するインタラクティブな建築要素のあり方を探っています。

We are developing an interactive "yukimi shoji"(Japanese paper screen) that adjusts transparency in response to people and the environment around Japanese tea room, with embedded liquid crystal films and controlling as an IoT device. It becomes transparent when a guest arrives, reducing intimidation. Once inside, it becomes opaque quietly, enhancing immersion. We are exploring the potential of interactive architectural elements that can harmonize with people in a quiet and unobtrusive way.
