Emanuele Brugnoli
Emanuele Brugnoli’s academic journey began with a PhD in Mathematics and Computer Science, where he focused on the combinatorial properties of graphs. This foundational work fueled his passion for complexity science and its interdisciplinary applications, shaping the direction of his current research.
After earning his PhD, he held postdoctoral positions at leading Italian institutions, including the University of Palermo, the Institute for Complex Systems (ISC-CNR) of the National Research Council, the Authority for Communications Guarantees (AGCOM), and the Enrico Fermi Research Centre (CREF), where he explored mathematical models for large-scale data and social phenomena. These experiences enriched his understanding of the multifaceted dynamics that govern how information flows, how opinions are formed, and how biases emerge, particularly in online spaces.
At Sony CSL – Rome, he blends natural language processing with statistical learning to design models and tools that improve our understanding of online discourse and help address the contaminations that affect it.
