Sony Computer Science Laboratories, Inc. (Sony CSL) was established in 1988 to pioneer new research fields and paradigms, as well as new technologies and businesses, for the good of humanity, society and our planet. Sony CSL empowers its researchers with the freedom to explore creative and imaginative research, with the goal of contributing to a better future. As of 2024, Sony CSL is engaged in a wide range of research themes across its laboratories in Tokyo, Paris, Kyoto and Rome. These areas of focus include social issues such as ecosystems, urban planning, and the augmentation of human capabilities and creativity. Sony CSL strives to channel the fruits of its research back into society.
