Oxford大学が進めている分散コンピューティングによる気候シミュレーション「ClimatePrediction.net」にCSL Parisが参加することとなりました。過去の気候変化を、モデルを用いてシミュレーションする実験で、気候変動の仕組みを明らかにす るものです。多数のユーザーが参加することにより、気候変動に対する関心を高める ことも期待しています。CSL Parisは、シミュレーションの消費電力を大幅に削減する方法を開発し、本実験に貢献しています。

CSL Paris will be participating in the ClimatePrediction.net's millennium experiment launched by Oxford University. The experiment is aimed to reconstructs the climate of the past 1200 years using the U.K. Met Office's climate model and the infrastructure that allows distributed computing. CSL Paris has collaborated closely with the University of Oxford and the UK Met Office to evaluate the performance and the energy consumption of the climate model in such a volunteer computing network.
